ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Data (computer science)

Data in computer science are little pieces of information that computers and programs use to perform tasks, like playing games or writing emails.

Think of it like a bunch of tiny Lego blocks that you can build into bigger things like boats, castles, and robots! Data is like those tiny Lego blocks, and computers are really good at putting them together to make cool stuff happen.

Data can be all sorts of things, like numbers, words, images, and sounds. Just like how you have different Lego blocks for different things, you have different types of data for different tasks.

For example, if you're playing a game on your computer, the data might be the score, the level you're on, and the characters you're playing with. Or, if you're writing an email, the data might be the words you're typing, the recipient's email address, and the subject of the email.

So, data is basically just lots of little pieces of information that computers use to do what you want them to do. And just like with Lego blocks, the more data you have, the more amazing things you can build!
