ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Data Format Description Language

Data format description language is a way to tell computers how to store and understand data. Think of it like a recipe. Just like a recipe tells a person what ingredients to use and how much to use of each one, a data format description language tells a computer how to interpret different types of data, like numbers and letters, and how to store them so they can be accessed and used by other computers.
