ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Data munging

Data munging is like sorting through a big bucket of toys to find just the ones you want to play with. Imagine you have a big bucket of toys, but not all of them are your favorites. You only want to play with the action figures, building blocks, and board games.

Data munging is a similar process where you have a lot of data, but you only want to use certain parts of it. You sift through the data, like searching for your favorite toys in the bucket, to find the parts that are most useful to you.

Once you find the useful parts of the data, you might want to clean them up or organize them before you use them. This is like taking the action figures out of the bucket and putting them on a separate shelf, or putting all the building blocks together in a bin.

After you finish data munging, you are left with only the parts of the data that you want to use and they are organized in a way that is easy to work with. Just like having your favorite toys all in one place and ready to play with!
