Have you ever seen a big garden with lots of plants? Sometimes, it can be really hard to know the name of all those plants, right? Well, many years ago, a very smart person named Augustin Pyramus de Candolle thought of a way to organize all these plant names.
De Candolle system is a way to classify plants into different groups by their characteristics. It's like putting all the plants that have something in common together so we can easily know their names.
It's like when you go to school, you have a class where all the kids are the same age, and a different class where the kids are different ages. De Candolle did the same thing with plants.
He classified plants based on parts such as the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits. So all the plants that had similar roots went in one group, all the plants that had similar leaves went in another group, and so on.
Now, if someone wants to know the name of a plant, they just need to look it up in the De Candolle system to find out what group it belongs to and its name. It makes it much easier to talk and learn about plants!
