De-essing

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes when people are singing or talking, there are some sounds that are really sharp or hissy? They can hurt your ears or make it hard to understand what they're saying, right? Well, sometimes when we're recording someone's voice, those sounds can be really noticeable and distracting.

That's where de-essing comes in! De-essing is a special tool that helps get rid of those sharp "s" and "sh" sounds in a person's voice, so that their words sound smoother and more pleasant to listen to.

It's kinda like wearing sunglasses on a bright day - the sunglasses help block out the bright sun so you can see more clearly and comfortably. But instead of blocking out light, de-essing blocks out the sharp sounds in a person's voice, so you can hear what they're saying without it hurting your ears.

De-essing works by listening to the sound someone is making and identifying when there are sharp, hissy sounds happening. Then, it reduces those sounds so they're not as noticeable. Kinda like turning down the volume on just the parts of the sound that are hurting your ears.

So there you have it, kiddo! De-essing is a really helpful tool for making someone's voice sound smoother and more pleasant to listen to by reducing harsh, hissy sounds.
