Deadbeat parent

Okay kiddo, so you know how mommy and daddy take care of you every day, like making sure you have food, clothes, and a roof over your head? Well, sometimes when a mommy or daddy doesn't do that for their kids even though they can, they're called a deadbeat parent.

See, being a mommy or daddy means responsibility, which means taking care of your kids and making sure they have what they need. But sometimes, a mommy or daddy doesn't want to do that or just forgets about it. They might not send money to help buy food or clothes, or they might not even visit their kids at all. When that happens, it can be really hard for the kids and the other parent.

So, grown-ups came up with a word to describe those parents who don't take care of their kids like they should, and that word is "deadbeat." It's not a nice word, and it's not a nice thing to be called, but it's important to know what it means so that parents who are having a hard time taking care of their kids can get help and support.
