Decade Volcanoes

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a volcano in a picture or in a movie? It's a big mountain with a hole on top where hot rocks and lava come out. Sometimes, volcanoes can be very dangerous and can hurt people and animals around it.

Decade volcanoes are a special group of volcanoes that are chosen by scientists to study and monitor because they are very dangerous and can erupt at any moment. These volcanoes are called "decade volcanoes" because they are chosen every decade (every ten years) to be studied more closely.

Scientists choose decade volcanoes because they are located in areas where a lot of people live nearby or where they can cause big problems. Scientists study these volcanoes to try to figure out when they might erupt and how to keep people safe.

There are 16 decade volcanoes around the world like Mount Vesuvius in Italy or Mount Rainier in the United States. Even though decade volcanoes can be very scary, studying them helps keep people safe and prepared for any future eruptions.
