Decompression sickness (DCS) can happen when you go up and down in the water quickly. It happens because when you are deep underwater, the pressure is higher. Your body gets used to this high pressure and when you come up quickly, your body isn't ready for the normal pressure. This causes small bubbles to form in your body which can be very dangerous. Symptoms may include joint pain, skin rashes, and even paralysis. To help prevent it, always follow the safety rules and take your time when you go up and down in the water.
