Deficit Reduction Act of 1984

Okay kiddo, the Deficit Reduction Act of 1984 was like a big plan made by grown-ups to help save money so the government wouldn't have too much debt.

It's kinda like if I had a bunch of toys and I realized I had too many, so I decided to sell some of them to make some extra money. The government realized they had too much debt, so they made a plan to cut some spending and get more money coming in.

One of the things they did was they changed the rules for some government programs. They made it so that some people had to pay more money to use the programs, and some people who were making a lot of money wouldn't be able to use the programs at all.

They also made some changes to how hospitals and doctors get paid by the government. They made it so that instead of getting paid the full amount for taking care of a person, they would only get paid a certain percentage.

Overall, the goal of the Deficit Reduction Act of 1984 was to help the government save some money and get the debt under control.
