ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

thorium

Thorium is a special kind of metal. It's a little bit like iron, but it's not used to make tools and things like iron is. Instead, it can be used to make a special kind of fuel that helps to make energy. When thorium is heated up and put into a special machine called a nuclear reactor, it releases energy in the form of heat. This heat can be used to boil water, which spins a turbine and makes electricity. This is a clean and efficient way to make energy and doesn't produce a lot of pollution.
