Deficit hawk

A deficit hawk is someone who is concerned about government spending and believes that the government should avoid running deficits (when spending more money than it gets from taxes). A deficit hawk usually prefers that the government stick to the budget and not increase its spending. Deficit hawks believe that reducing the size of the national debt should be a priority.
