ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Definitions of science fiction

Alright kiddo, let me explain science fiction to you like you're 5. Science fiction is like telling stories about things that haven't happened yet or things that might happen in the future. It's like playing a game where we imagine things that might be possible because of science or technology that we don't have yet.

For example, have you ever seen a movie or read a book where people travel to other planets or explore new galaxies? That's science fiction! Or have you seen a story where people have special powers or abilities because of science? That's science fiction too!

Sometimes science fiction can be a little bit scary, like when we imagine what life would be like if robots took over the world or if aliens invaded our planet. But it's also really cool because it lets us imagine what our world might look like in the future and what kinds of things we might be able to do with science.

So science fiction is basically just a way for us to use our imaginations and think about what could be possible if we had new technology or if we could do things that we can't do right now. Pretty cool, right?
