Degauss

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of magnets? They are special things that can make metal things stick to them. Well, computers and TVs have something called a CRT (cathode ray tube) that use magnets to make pictures show up on the screen.

Now, sometimes those magnets get all jumbled up and don't work quite right anymore. This can make the picture on the screen look all funny, with weird colors or lines.

To fix this, we use something called "degaussing." Degaussing is kind of like waving a magic wand over the computer or TV screen to fix the magnets.

What actually happens is that a special tool, called a degausser, is placed close to the screen and turned on. It creates a strong magnetic field that cancels out all the weird magnetism on the screen.

After the degaussing is finished, everything looks nice and normal again, just like it did before the magnets got all scrambled up. Pretty cool, huh?
