Degaussing

Degaussing is a way to get rid of unwanted magnetic fields. Magnetic fields are created when you have electric currents running through metal wires, or when magnets are close together. Degaussing involves placing powerful magnets in a circle around a metal object that has a magnetic field. As the magnets move around, they slowly weaken the magnetic field until it disappears. Degaussing can also be used to erase data on a computer hard drive.
