ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Demitarian

Well, a demitarian is someone who chooses to eat meat only sometimes, instead of all the time. Just like how sometimes you might want ice cream for dessert, but other times you might want fruit salad or a cookie.

You see, some people believe that eating meat all the time isn't very good for the Earth, because it can require a lot of resources to raise animals for food. And sometimes, the animals aren't treated very nicely on the farms where they live. So some people choose to only eat meat on special occasions, or maybe just a few times a week, to make sure they're not causing too much harm to the Earth and the animals.

But that doesn't mean they can't still enjoy other kinds of food! They might eat lots of fruits and veggies, grains like bread and pasta, and even delicious desserts. So, being a demitarian means you're trying to be mindful of the impact your food choices have on the world around you, and that's definitely something to feel proud of.
