ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Demodulator

Okay kiddo, you know how sometimes you listen to the radio and you hear your favourite song? Well, the radio station sends out a signal which is a stream of electrical waves that represents that song. But, these waves are not in a form that our ears can understand.

That is where the demodulator comes in. It's like a magic decoder that changes the electrical waves in the radio signal into sound waves that our ears can hear.

Think of it like this: Let's say your mom wants to give you a secret message, but she can only speak in a language you don't understand. You need someone who knows both languages to help you translate what she's saying. That person is like the demodulator in the radio, it understands the electrical language of the radio waves and can translate it into something that you can understand, like music or speech.

So, without the demodulator, the radio signal would just be a jumbled mess of electrical waves that we wouldn't be able to enjoy. But because of the magic of the demodulator, we can all sing along to our favourite songs and listen to the news on the radio.
