Dental click

Have you ever heard someone make a funny clicking sound when they talk? That's called a dental click! When we talk, our tongues make different shapes in our mouths to make different sounds. A dental click happens when we quickly pull our tongue away from the roof of our mouth, making a clicking sound.

Some languages, like the languages spoken by some people in Africa, use dental clicks as part of their words. It's a very special sound that not all languages use!

Dental clicks can also be used when you're trying to get someone's attention without making too much noise – like a secret signal between friends. But remember, it's important to only use dental clicks when it's appropriate and not as a way to disrupt or distract others.
