ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Departmentalization

Departmentalization is like when you have different toys in your toy box and you decide to put the similar toys together in groups. For example, you might put all of your dolls in one group and all of your cars in another group.

In a big company, departmentalization is when people who work there are put into groups based on what kind of work they do. This helps the company stay organized and makes it easier for everyone to know who they should ask for help or talk to about certain things.

So imagine if the company was a big toy box and each department was like a group of toys. The people who make the toys would be in one group, the people who sell the toys would be in another group, and the people who fix the toys would be in a different group. This way the company can work together more efficiently to make and sell their toys.
