Deposition in meteorology is like when you touch a cold glass of water with your warm hand and you see little droplets form on the outside.
In the air, there is something called water vapor. Water vapor is like tiny little pieces of water that you can't see. When it gets really cold outside, the water vapor turns into little pieces of ice, kind of like snowflakes.
Deposition happens when those tiny pieces of ice stick to things like grass, trees, or sidewalks. You might see it in the winter when there is frost on the ground.
Deposition can also happen to things called clouds. Clouds are like big fluffy pillows floating in the sky. When it gets really cold up high in the sky, the water vapor in the clouds turns into little pieces of ice and they stick together making snowflakes. The snowflakes get heavy and fall to the ground, making snow.
So, deposition is when the water vapor turns into little pieces of ice and stick to things. It's like putting stickers on your favorite toy!
