Depression in childhood and adolescence

Depression in childhood and adolescence is when a young person feels very sad and overwhelmed for a long period of time. It can make them feel tired, down, and have trouble doing things they usually like to do. Some people may feel so down, they don't want to talk to anyone or go outside. They may have trouble sleeping, eating, or concentrating. It can be hard to know when a young person is depressed because they may not say it out loud - but if you notice they seem different, and it's been going on for a while, it might be time to talk to a doctor about it. They can help figure out if depression is what is going on and help find ways to make the young person feel better.
