ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Depth of focus

Depth of focus is kind of like how clear things look when you're looking through a telescope or binoculars. When you look at something far away, it might look really blurry because your eyes need to focus on it to make it clear. But when you look through a telescope or binoculars, you can adjust the lenses to make things look clear no matter how far away they are.

The same thing happens in a camera. The lens in the camera can be adjusted to make things look clear, no matter how far away they are. But there's a limit to how much it can adjust. If things are too far away or too close, they might look blurry.

The depth of focus is how much the camera lens can adjust to make things look clear. It's kind of like a range of distances that the lens can handle. If the depth of focus is really big, it means the lens can make things look clear that are really far away and really close up. But if the depth of focus is really small, the lens can only handle things that are a certain distance away, and everything else might look blurry.

So, depth of focus is like how much a camera can adjust its lenses to make things look clear at different distances.
