ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Derviş

A dervish is someone who follows a special way of life that includes spinning around and praying. Imagine you are playing a fun game where you spin around and around until you get dizzy. Dervishes do this too, but they're not doing it just for fun. They believe that spinning helps them connect with God.

Dervishes also wear long robes and hats that look really cool. The robes represent the tomb that a dervish is buried in after they die, and the hats represent the tombstone. This might sound a little bit scary, but dervishes don't think of death as something to be afraid of. They believe that when a person dies, their spirit goes back to God, which is something to be celebrated!

Being a dervish is not just about spinning and wearing cool clothes, though. It's also about living a good life, being kind and helpful to others, and following the teachings of their religion. Dervishes try to become more and more connected with God by doing these things and by spinning, which helps them feel more peaceful and closer to God.
