ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Descriptive ethics

Descriptive ethics is a way of studying morality. It's a way of studying what people actually do and saying what they think is right, not what is actually right. It is like when you ask your friends what they think is the best color for a car. You are asking what their opinion is, not what the best color really is. That is what descriptive ethics is like. It is a way of looking at what people think is moral and what they think is wrong, without saying which is actually correct or not.
