ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Design for the environment

Design for the environment is when people make things like toys, clothes, and cars that don't hurt the earth. We want to make things that last a long time and don't need to be thrown away too often. We also want to make sure that the things we make don't use too much energy or make too much garbage.

To make good things for the environment, people have to think carefully about what they're making and how it might affect the world around us. If we use lots of chemicals or make things that break easily, we might be hurting the planet. But if we use natural materials and make things that last longer, we can help the environment.

One way people design for the environment is by recycling. That means taking things we don't need anymore, like old paper or cans, and turning them into new things. And when we do have to throw things away, we want to make sure we're doing it in a way that doesn't hurt the world. That might mean composting things like food scraps, so they can turn into good soil for plants.

Design for the environment is important because we want to keep the earth healthy for a long time. If we're not careful, we might hurt the planet and make it hard for animals and plants to survive. But by thinking carefully about what we make and how we use it, we can help protect our home.
