Design prototyping is when a designer creates a model or a demonstration of something they would like to make. It's like a practice round of what the final product might look like. So they get to see how it works and if any issues come up that they didn't expect before they make the real thing. It's like taking a test drive so you know what to expect when the finished product is ready.
