Developmental noise

Have you ever tried to listen to someone talking in a super noisy place like at a carnival or playground? It can be really hard to hear what they are saying because there are so many other sounds around you. Well, the same thing can happen when a baby is growing inside their mommy’s tummy.

Developmental noise is all the different things that can affect a baby’s development while they’re still in the womb. Just like how all those loud sounds can make it hard for you to hear, developmental noise can make it harder for a baby’s body to develop how it should.

Some of the things that can make developmental noise are things like stress, poor nutrition, and smoking. These things can make it harder for a baby to grow a healthy brain, heart, and other important body parts. Scientists are working hard to figure out ways to prevent developmental noise so that babies can be born healthy and happy.
