Dhyāna in Hinduism

Dhyāna is a Hindu practice that is focused on meditation. It is a way of calming the mind and connecting to the divine. Meditation is usually done by sitting in a comfortable position, focusing on the breath, and allowing the mind to relax. During dhyāna, it is believed that the spiritual energy can be felt and the practitioner can journey closer to God. Meditating with Dhyāna allows people to shed their negative thoughts, to gain peace, and to gain spiritual insight.
