Diamond crossing

Okay, so imagine you have two train tracks that go like this: / and this: | . Now, what if these two tracks cross each other? We call this a diamond crossing because it looks like a diamond shape.

Now, the important thing about a diamond crossing is that the tracks have to be set up in a way that allows the trains to cross each other safely. This means that the tracks have to have a special design where they can change their position to let the trains pass by each other.

Think about when you play with toy cars and you make them pass each other without crashing. The tracks have to be set up correctly for this to happen. That's what engineers do when they design diamond crossings - they make sure the tracks are set up in a way that keeps the trains from crashing into each other.

So, a diamond crossing is really just a place where two train tracks cross each other in a special way so that trains can pass by each other safely. It's like a big game of Toy Cars, but with real trains and very important safety rules!
