Diesel exhaust is the yucky smoke that comes out of a truck or a big machine that runs on diesel fuel. When diesel fuel is burned to make the machine go, it makes chemicals called pollutants, which are not good for the air we breathe. These pollutants come out of the machine through a big pipe called an exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe releases the smoke and fumes into the air, and these fumes can make us sick if we breathe them in for a long time. That's why it's important to keep the air clean and safe by using machines that don't release too much diesel exhaust.
