Digital tachograph

Okay kiddo, do you know what a tachograph is? It's a device that measures how fast a vehicle is going and how long it has been driving for. A digital tachograph is just a newer version of that.

The digital tachograph is a computer that is fitted into certain vehicles, like big trucks and buses, to keep track of how long the driver has been working and how fast they are driving. The driver has to put in their personal information, like their name and driver card number, so the tachograph knows who is driving.

When the driver starts their journey, the digital tachograph begins to record how long they have been driving and how fast they are going. The tachograph takes information from different sensors in the vehicle, like the speedometer and the engine, to get accurate readings.

At the end of the driver's journey, they take out their driver card and plug it into a special device called a tachograph reader. This device downloads all the information that the tachograph has recorded during the journey, like the driver's speed and how much time they spent driving. This is important because driving for too long without taking a break can be dangerous for the driver and other people on the road.

The digital tachograph helps make sure that drivers are following the rules and regulations of the road, which can keep everyone safer.
