ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Digital television

Digital television is like normal TV, but instead of using signals sent over the air, it sends signals over the internet. Everything is sent in a digital format, so it looks a lot clearer and better than regular TV, and the picture won't be affected by bad weather like normal TV can be. With digital TV, you need a special box (called a digital TV receiver) to get all the channels, but this box does more than just receive the digital signals—it usually has a bunch of extra features, like recording TV shows, pausing live TV, and more.
