Digital watermarking

Digital watermarking is a way of taking a picture, video, or other digital file, and adding something to it called a "watermark" that can't be seen. This watermark is like a secret code that has information in it. Anyone who downloads the digital file can see the watermark and will know who made the file and that it is not allowed to be used without permission. It's like a digital copyright because it helps to show who owns the file.
