Dingbat (building)

Okay kiddo, so a dingbat is a kind of building that you might see lots of in some cities, like Los Angeles. It's called a dingbat because it kind of looks like a big piece of punctuation called a bullet point, or a dingbat.

Basically, a dingbat is an apartment building that has a lot of little apartments all stacked on top of each other. They're usually pretty plain and don't have a lot of fancy decorations or anything. But sometimes, there will be big signs outside the building with bright letters to show you where it is.

Dingbats are sometimes also called "stilt apartments" because they're built up on tall legs, kind of like a house on stilts. This is because they're usually built on a small piece of land, and the builders wanted to be able to fit as many apartments as possible on that little piece of land.

So, that's what a dingbat is! It's just a type of apartment building that's really common in some big cities.
