After 1552, the Church of the East - which is a Christian church - was divided into different areas called dioceses. Think of these dioceses like big playgrounds, where each playground is run by a different teacher.
Each diocese had a leader called a bishop, who was like the teacher in charge of the playground. The bishop was responsible for making sure everyone followed the rules, teaching people about their religion, and leading religious ceremonies.
However, after 1552, there was a lot of fighting and arguing between different groups within the Church of the East. This led to some bishops being exiled, meaning they were forced to leave their playground and go live somewhere else, without as much power or influence.
As a result, the number of dioceses in the Church of the East decreased, and some areas were left without a bishop to lead them. It was a very confusing and difficult time for the Church and the people who followed its teachings.
