Morse code is a way of sending messages using dots and dashes (sometimes called "dits" and "dahs"). It is named after Samuel Morse, who developed the code to use with his invention of the telegraph. Morse code is used worldwide by ships, airplanes, and amateur radio operators. To send a message with Morse code, you tap out a series of dots and dashes on a radio or other device. Each series of dots and dashes has a different meaning. For example, the code for "SOS" (which means "help") is three dots, three dashes, and three dots.
