Directorate-General for the Environment

Okay kiddo, so the "Directorate-General" is a big group of people who work for the European Union. You know how Auntie Lisa has a big job at the hospital and she helps keep people healthy? Well, these people have a really big job too - they help take care of the environment!

The environment is everything around us - the trees, the air we breathe, the water we drink. And they help create all the rules and policies to make sure the environment is healthy and safe for all of us. They also work with countries in the European Union to make sure they follow these rules and do things like reduce pollution and protect endangered animals and plants.

It's like if we were all in a big game of tag, and the directorate-general is the one making sure everyone is playing by the rules and being safe. They're kind of like the referee, but for the environment instead of a game. By doing their job well, they help make sure that we can all enjoy clean air, water, and a healthy planet for years to come!
