Dirty bomb

A dirty bomb is a kind of bomb that doesn't use a nuclear explosion. Instead, it mixes ordinary explosive material with radioactive material. It's called a dirty bomb because the explosion makes the radioactive material spread out, contaminating a large area around the bomb. People in the area could then be exposed to the radiation, making them very sick or maybe even killing them.
