Okay, kiddo. So you know how when it gets dark outside, it's time for you to go to bed? That's because your body has something called a "clock" that knows when it's bedtime.
Well, scientists found out that there's a special part of our body that helps us sleep called the "pineal gland." This gland makes something called "melatonin" that tells our body it's time to sleep.
But sometimes people have trouble sleeping, so scientists tried to make a medicine that helps your body make more melatonin. They called it a "melatonin receptor agonist."
It was a lot of work to make this medicine because they had to test it on animals first to make sure it was safe. Then they had to test it on people to see if it helped them sleep.
And after all that work, they finally made a medicine that can help people who have trouble sleeping!
