ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Discrete calculus

Discrete calculus is a way to solve equations and problems that have to do with numbers and the relationship between numbers. It looks at how the size of a number changes when you make a small change to it. For example, if you have a number 4, and you add one to it (so it's now 5), then the size of the number changed by 1. Discrete calculus is used to figure out how much a number changes when it's changed by a very small amount. By figuring this out, we can learn a lot about numbers and the relationship between them.
