ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Disease burden

Disease burden is a measure of how much sickness or disease is in a population. It helps us understand how healthy or unhealthy a group or community of people is. To figure out the disease burden, we look at how often people get sick and how long they are sick for, as well as how serious their illness is and how many people die because of the disease. All these things help us decide how much of a problem it is and whether more could be done to prevent or treat it.
