ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Disenfranchisement

Disenfranchisement is when someone is not allowed to vote. Imagine you and your friends are playing a game, but one friend is not allowed to play because they did something wrong. That is like what disenfranchisement is, but instead of a game, it's about voting. There are many reasons why someone might not be allowed to vote, like if they are too young or if they are not a citizen. But sometimes, people are not allowed to vote because of things like where they live, their race, or if they have been in trouble with the law. This is not fair because everyone should have the right to vote, just like everyone should have the right to play in a game. It's important to make sure that everyone has a chance to vote so that everyone's voices can be heard.
