ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Display controller

Okay, imagine you are playing with Legos and you want to create a cool castle with different colors and shapes. But you need someone to tell you how to put all the Legos together in the right order to make it look good. That’s what a display controller does for a computer or a phone.

A display controller is like the boss of your computer or phone screen. It’s a tiny computer chip that tells your screen what to show, where to show it, and how to show it. It takes all the information that your device wants to show you, like a picture or a video, and tells the screen exactly what to do with it, like how bright to make it, what colors to use, and how big or small to make it.

So, just like you need instructions to build your Lego castle, the display controller gives instructions to your computer or phone screen, so you can see all your cool pictures and videos in the right way.
