ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Distributed power

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a big box of legos. Now, each lego block can make something cool, like a car or a building. But if you have only one person playing with the legos, they can only make one thing at a time.

Distributed power is like having lots of people playing with legos together. Each person has their own box of legos, and they can all make different things at the same time. That's a lot more efficient, because you can build more things in less time.

In real life, distributed power means that instead of having one big power plant that makes all the electricity for a city or town, there are lots of smaller power sources that work together. For example, some homes might have solar panels on their roofs that make electricity, and then they can sell that electricity to the power company.

By having lots of little power sources spread out over an area, we can create more electricity without having to build huge power plants that use a lot of resources. Plus, if one of the sources stops working, there are still other sources creating electricity, so we don't have a whole city in the dark.

So, just like playing with legos, distributed power means working together to make something bigger and better than we can do alone!
