ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Locotrol

Have you ever seen a really long train with lots of different cars carrying different things like coal, cars, or even animals? Well, sometimes it can be really hard for just one train driver to control the whole train because it's so long and heavy. That's where something called "locotrol" comes in.

Locotrol is a system that allows two or more train drivers to work together to control a really long train. Each driver controls a different part of the train and they talk to each other using a special radio. This way, they can make sure the train moves smoothly and safely without one part going too fast or too slow.

It's kind of like playing a big game of "follow the leader" with your friends. You lead the front of the train and your friend leads the back, and you both work together to make sure everyone stays in line and follows the same speed.

So, thanks to locotrol, trains can be even longer and carry even more things without worrying about how to control them all by just one driver.
