Diversity index

A diversity index is a number that helps people measure how diverse something is. It can be used to measure the diversity of things like a group of people or the animals living in a particular area. It’s an easy way to compare two different groups or two different areas to determine which one is more diverse.

To measure diversity, most diversity indexes look at the number of different kinds of things (people, animals, plants, etc) that make up the group or area. It’s kind of like counting how many different types of toys are in your toy box. The more types of toys you have, the more diverse your toy box is. The same is true with people, animals and plants. The more kinds of people, animals and plants, the more diverse the group or area.
