Divorce in Pakistan is when two people who are married decide they don't want to be married anymore and want to separate. Just like when two best friends have a fight and don't want to be friends anymore, sometimes two grown-ups who are married have fights or other problems that make them want to end their marriage.
In Pakistan, divorce is allowed in Islam and it is done in different ways depending on what the couple agrees on or what is allowed by the law. One way is called "Talaq" which means the husband can verbally say "I divorce you" three times to his wife and that is considered a divorce. Another way is called "Khula" where the wife can ask for a divorce from her husband if she is not happy in the marriage, but she needs to return the "Mehr", the money or property her husband gave her when they got married.
Once the divorce is finalized, the couple can go their separate ways and live their own lives. If they have children, they will need to decide on things like who gets to keep the kids, how often the other parent gets to see the children, and how they will support their children financially.
Divorce is not something that anyone wants to happen, but sometimes it is necessary for two people who are not happy together to end their marriage and move on with their lives. It is important for parents to try to make the process as easy as possible for their children and to continue to love and support them even after the divorce is finalized.
