ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dominican Republic–Haiti relations

Okay kiddo, so the Dominican Republic and Haiti are two countries that share an island called Hispaniola. Just like how you share toys and have to learn how to share nicely with your friends, these two countries have to share the land and work together to be good neighbors.

In the past, adults did some not-so-nice things to each other, which made their relationship not very good. But now, they are trying hard to be friends and help each other out.

Sometimes people from Haiti come to the Dominican Republic to find work and a better life for their families. This can sometimes make some people from the Dominican Republic upset, but other people understand and try to help them.

There are still some challenges to face, but grown-ups from both countries are working together to make things better for everyone.
