ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dominus vobiscum

"Okay kiddo, so you know how when you see someone you say 'hi' or 'hello'? Well, in some places and times, people say 'dominus vobiscum' which means 'the Lord be with you.' It's a way of greeting each other and also reminding each other that God is always with us. And when someone replies 'et cum spiritu tuo' which means 'and with your spirit,' it's like saying, 'thank you, and I hope God is with you too!'"
