Double hermeneutic

Okay kiddo, have you ever played a game of telephone before with your friends? It's when you whisper a message to one person and they whisper it to the next person, and so on until it reaches the end of the line. Sometimes, the message changes a lot by the time it gets to the last person.

That's kind of like what happens with the double hermeneutic. When we talk about something, we use language to communicate our ideas to others. But the other person might not always understand us perfectly, because they have their own ideas and experiences that shape how they interpret what we're saying.

So, the double hermeneutic is when we have to interpret and understand someone else's interpretations. It's like playing telephone twice. We have to understand what the other person meant when they said something, but then we also have to think about our own interpretation of it and how that might affect our understanding.

It's a fancy way of saying that communication can be tricky and a lot of things can get lost in translation. But if we take the time to really listen and think about what someone else is saying, we can try to bridge that gap and make sure we're all on the same page.
