Dowry of Mary

Okay kiddo, so a dowry is like a gift that a bride's family gives to the groom's family as a way to help support the new couple. In the case of Mary, who was the mother of Jesus, there was a belief that she was given a special dowry by God himself. This dowry was the ability to have a baby even though she had never been with a man before. So when Mary married Joseph, her special dowry was seen as a really important and precious thing. It helped show that Mary was chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus. Does that make sense, kiddo?
